MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT OF THE CONFERENCE: HIS EXCELLENCY SHEIKH SAOUD BIN ABDULRAHMAN AL-THANI, SECRETARY GENERAL OF QATAR OLYMPIC COMMITTEE

The Qatar Olympic Committee spends great efforts in giving equal care for the Olympic sports on one hand, represented by the Olympic teams, and the sport opportunities offered to the Qatari society, on the other hand. The Qatar Olympic Committee vitally adopts this principle, as the Qatari vision believes in the importance of sport and its role in the development of various aspects of life such as the physical, social, and health aspects for the individual and society.

 Among the primary tasks tackled by the Qatar Olympic Committee is the scientific research where specialized staff work in partnership with the scientific research centers in Qatar, especially Qatar University. Such partnerships and cooperation resulted in a series of scientific studies dealing with the problems of sports in the Qatari community, particularly among the major groups such as women and schools students. From such a stand point, hosting the 52nd International Conference of the International Council for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, Sport, and Dance (ICHPER•SD) by the Qatar Olympic Committee comes within the framework of its concerns regarding the scientific research and scientific exchange among researchers from different countries in the east and the west. The selection of the conference’s themes within the framework of sport for all as a means of excellence in the areas of health and sporting excellence, is achieving the objectives of the Olympic Movement in general and fulfilling the aspirations of the Qatar Olympic Committee in particular, where we expect sports in Qatar to witness further prosperity and progress.

The Qatar Olympic Committee while hosting this conference would like to express its appreciation and welcome to all the researchers, experts, and participants. I wish you all a successful conference in the State of Qatar. I also extend my sincere appreciation and consideration to the members of the International Council for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, Sport, and Dance (ICHPER•SD) for selecting the State of Qatar to organize this important conference. Welcome everybody.
